Scholarships

This committee communicates and coordinates with local area colleges, identifying outstanding students, and presenting an annual program and awards presentation. The Scholarship receipients are selected with the help of the Directors of Financial Aid of each college. The students must meet the following provisions:

1) The student has a financial need for the scholarship.
2) Live in the tri-county area.
3) Possess at least a 3.0 grade point average.
4) Completed the freshman year of college.
5) Have a history of involvement in community service

This year, our Club was able to give $25,000 in scholarships to area college students. Club member Fred Whittle did an excellant job in presenting this year's receipients:

Merry Kency, Johanna Brett, Stephanie McFarling, Laura Bowers, and Souzanne Roper - Trident Technical College
Nicole Carnahan (2-year winner) and Melinda Waters - The College of Charleston
Yonnick Hammond (2-year winner), Jill Weatherford, Staci Oliver, Codie Powell, and Vanessa Yambo - Charleston Southern University
Thomas E. Stelling, Jr., Nathan Allen Moyer (3-year winner), and Eric Brandon Roberts - The Citadel
