Senior Citizen Volunteer of the Year
This program honors the Senior Citizen Volunteers who provide extraordinary help in the caring and attention of our senior citizens.
A nearly speechless 28-year club member Irv Lipsky received a well deserved honor as the Exchange Club of Charleston’s 2006 “Senior Volunteer of the Year.” Assisted by fellow committee mate Jim Burke over many years, Irv has been the man with the heart for senior citizens in the Lowcountry. He has been honored by the SC Governor with a Palmetto Award, the Israeli Government with The Ben-Gurian Award, and has been singled out on more than a dozen occasions by senior service professionals in letters and in person, before our club. The senior citizens, among whom Irv is a distinguished 85-year-old member, consistently praise Irv and our club for being one of the few service clubs in the area which serves them.>
By special order of the club’s board, Irv, who will depart for a new home in Bluffton, SC next month, was designated an “Honorary 50-Year Member” and will remain on our rolls dues free for the rest of his life. (Now that’s something we could all use!) Helen, Irv’s bride of 64 years, was present to show support and received a bouquet of flowers from Dennis.
Club President Dennis Lott presents this year's Senior Volunteer of the Year, Irv Lipsky, with this year's award. Irv's wife, Helen, receives some flowers in appreciation of everything she has done for Irv and Exchange.
